Meet Nadia

Nadia is a Florida native turned world traveler who has been living as a digital nomad since 2012. Currently based in Indonesia, she is a virtual health coach and educator, specializing in Singapore math and biohacking.

Nadia’s journey into health began after years of yo-yo dieting and disordered eating, which she overcame by learning to cook whole foods and adopt sustainable habits.

Her interest in biohacking was sparked after a cycling accident introduced her to recovery technologies, eventually leading her to explore metabolic health with Lumen.

Today, Nadia combines her passion for teaching, fitness, and holistic wellness to help others transform their lifestyles while continuing her pursuit of strength and wellbeing.

From yo-yo dieting to whole foods

Like many people, Nadia’s health journey started rocky and included fad diets, quick-fix pills, contour belts, and everything under the sun. “Some things worked better than others, but nothing with sustainable results,” Nadia reflects.
Her turning point came when she moved abroad to the Czech Republic, her first time out of the country. That’s when she realized she had to course-correct and turn things around. She started with reading nutrition labels and the slow, steady process of learning how to cook “food that grows” and preparing healthy-ish meals at home.

Discovering biohacking along the way

Nadia’s digital nomad lifestyle eventually led her to an unexpected path after experiencing a cycling accident that dislocated her elbow. Her friend, who owns a biotech company, advised her to wear a bracelet that would help her arm heal faster. To her surprise, it worked really well and stunned all the doctors working with her on arm rehab. That’s how she learned about biohacking and the power of technology for better results.

Breaking through a three-year plateau

Biohacking as a tool really helped Nadia when she was certified as a personal trainer, sports nutrition coach, and yoga instructor. She had one clear motivation: “I wanted a six-pack. I still want a six-pack. It’s been a long-time goal of mine. That’s why I ended up getting Lumen.”

For years, Nadia had been stuck at the same body composition:
“I could build and cut, but I couldn’t do it in a way that would keep my lean muscle while losing all the excess fat. I noticed a big shift in my metabolism as well.”

With Lumen, she finally saw real change: “I lost 2-3% body fat early on. Within the first couple of months, I saw my body fat percentage shift. It wasn’t even exciting because I saw the shift. It was  exciting because I had broken the plateau I was stuck at for three years.”

Nadia also tells us her strength skyrocketed, and she started hitting new PRs regularly. After training four pull-ups for a year, she could still do five and a half at best. Then, all of a sudden, she could do eight to ten pull-ups.

“Before Lumen, I had never been able to train so little, eat so much, and stay so lean.”

Women's health, macro tracking, and balance

At 35, Nadia reflects on the importance of maintaining her muscle mass: “Women lose 1% muscle mass every year from the time they are 30. Not resistance training or eating enough protein is not setting yourself up for a good quality of life,” she tells us.

“And having Lumen tell you exactly how much protein you need is a massive service, not just for your physique, but for your quality of life well into your later years.”

By tracking her macros, Nadia has discovered how to balance life’s pleasures with her goals: “Go on your holiday, enjoy yourself. Have a treat. I don’t call them cheat days, I call them treat days. Cheating implies you’re doing something bad. When you’re giving yourself a treat, it’s not anything bad. It’s life.”

Nadia has also learned to trust her metabolic measurements around her cycle. Lumen helps her understand how hormonal changes affect her carb and fat burn. “If I start seeing fours instead of twos or threes, then I don’t have to freak out about it. I know it’s probably because of my cycle.”

Key shifts Nadia made with Lumen

Understanding the lifestyle pillars

Nadia combined her own background in health with Lumen’s feedback on key lifestyle pillars:

  • Sleep: realized how even 30 extra minutes of sleep could significantly improve results.
  • Nutrition timing: understood the importance of meal timing and when to eat or increase her carbs.
  • Stress levels: learned how much stress (and cortisol spikes) were holding her back.
  • Activity balance: shifted from overtraining to workouts tailored to her body.

Customizing fasting

Previously, Nadia followed generic intermittent fasting patterns like 16:8 splits, but Lumen showed her that her optimal fasting window varied daily. By measuring her metabolism, she learned exactly how long to fast for her body and to avoid muscle breakdown.

Training smarter, not harder

Before Lumen, Nadia trained up to 2 hours a day, 5+ days per week, often pushing cortisol too high.

After Lumen, she learned that shorter, more intense workouts or longer, lower-intensity sessions were more effective.

This shift reduced her gym time while improving results. It also meant she could maintain progress while traveling without full gym access.

Using Lumen for nutrition and macros

  • Lumen set her baseline daily macros and adjusted them depending on workout days.
  • She learned to fuel properly instead of eating less, seeing that eating more on workout days was not a setback but essential for progress.
  • Carb cycling became personalized instead of random, which helped her metabolism become flexible and efficient.

Looking back, looking forward

Reflecting on her health journey, Nadia cautions against giving up too soon, as breakthroughs often come after a plateau.

She also believes in trusting the process, which means following consistent habits (nutrition, workouts, recovery) and letting results build over time.

“Everybody always gives up just before they have their biggest breakthrough. It’s true, and I can say that because I have trusted the process long enough to know that you can trust the process too.”Asked what she’d tell her younger self, Nadia didn’t hesitate:

“At 30, I would have said: Stop being stubborn and get the device already. Shortcut your way to success.”
