Angy’s story: thriving through the highs and lows, from cancer diagnosis to holistic health, remission, and blissipline
Meet Angy
At 52, Angy embodies resilience and transformation. A former corporate brand manager turned holistic health coach, Pilates instructor, and CrossFit lover, she now dedicates her life to helping women navigate the complexity of perimenopause and menopause with grace, strength, and knowledge. But Angy’s journey to vibrant health hasn’t been without adversity.
We sat down with Angy to discuss her inspiring story of overcoming cancer and discovering the power of holistic wellness, blissipline, and metabolic health.
From the corporate world to holistic wellness
Angy began her professional life in the fast-paced corporate world after receiving her MBA. She worked in brand management and spent years living out of a suitcase, traveling from one city to the next. While this lifestyle might seem glamorous on the outside, it eventually took a toll on her physically and mentally. The grind was constant, the stress never-ending, and the exhaustion all-consuming.
What kept her grounded during this time was her deep passion for fitness and nutrition. It didn’t take long before she decided to make a dramatic shift, trading in corporate boardrooms for Pilates studios. Along the way, she began coaching clients on exercise and nutrition, topics she had always been passionate about.
Facing the ultimate health challenge
Angy’s holistic health philosophy was put to the test in 2015 when she was diagnosed with a rare, incurable head and neck cancer, just after becoming a new mom. She found herself facing invasive surgery and radiation and fighting for her life.
In 2020, the cancer spread to her lungs. She faced another grueling surgery and a hospital stay alone amidst lockdowns. In 2022, she joined a clinical immunotherapy trial, hoping it would stabilize the cancer. And then, another setback: In 2023, the cancer returned to her sinus and spread to her brain. This led to more intense radiation and another major surgery, leaving her without a sense of taste or smell forever.
Rebuilding from the inside out
2024 was a year of reflection, recovery, and rebuilding.
One of the most important tools in Angy’s recovery was Lumen.
“Lumen has been one of the biggest supporters and greatest tools, even for someone who’s really well-versed in what I do,” Angy says. “With Lumen, the light bulbs went off when I started using it.”
After surgeries that made eating difficult — jaw swelling, lymphedema, and radiation damage — Angy relied on protein shakes and soft foods to survive. She lost over 20 pounds of muscle. Lumen became her nutritional compass, helping her understand what her body needed and when.
Now, in 2025, Angy stands strong, grateful, grounded, and more determined than ever to help others. “Here I am, ready for my comeback,” she says confidently. “Cancer may have tested me, but it also taught me resilience. It taught me to listen to my body, trust my intuition, and take control of my healing.”
Angy’s concept of “blissipline”
Angy is a big believer in “blissipline,” what she describes as a cross between bliss and discipline. We ask her to tell us more about this newfangled concept of thinking and living. She smiles, “Well, it’s a euphoric state where you feel in control with healthy habits, have a base level of happiness, and life is just simpler and smoother.”
Angy teaches this concept to clients to help them create flow, reduce stress, and live in alignment with their energy and purpose. Her approach focuses on simplicity and returning to the foundations of health, holistic wellness, and stacking small daily habits that are easy to maintain and have a big cumulative effect.
Thriving through menopause and beyond
The idea of blissipline is a constant in her mission to share as much knowledge as possible with women in their menopause and perimenopause years to make their lives just a little bit easier.
Angy believes this stage of life doesn’t have to be something women dread. “As I see it, it’s an amazing time. It doesn’t have to be an awful experience,” she beams.
“In the world I’m in, these women want natural solutions to make their lives smoother, happier, and joyful, so they can manage the day without ups and downs. No one wants to be on medications for sleep, depression, or anxiety.”
Angy’s holistic health checklist
Angy’s approach to a holistic health journey centers around core pillars that work together to reset metabolism, support healthy aging, optimize gut health, and enhance overall well-being.
- Movement as a non-negotiable
Angy swears by consistent movement. Whether it’s strength training, yoga, CrossFit, or simply walking, she keeps her body in motion. Exercise is her anchor, boosting her physical strength and mental well-being. - Nutrition foundations
Angy follows a whole-food, protein-forward diet and emphasizes the importance of proper macronutrient balance, which she tracks with Lumen. She’s particularly passionate about reeducating women on the role of carbohydrates, especially on active days.
“People underestimate the importance of carbohydrates, especially on days you’re very active. We’ve got to replenish our bodies,” she emphasizes.
Angy has also shifted her carb intake to the first half of the day to optimize her metabolism and has seen a notable improvement in her sleep since minimizing evening carb intake. - Mindset work
True health starts with the mind. Angy cultivates emotional resilience and calm through breathwork, meditation, and a positive outlook. Her mindset practices help her manage stress and stay grounded no matter what challenges arise.
“Sleep is sacred. I love listening to Joe Dispenza’s restorative meditation before bedtime. And I never forget a weighted eye mask. This combo takes me quickly into deep sleep,” she says. - Fasting sweet spots
While Angy previously fasted 14–18 hours daily, she had no clue if it was helping or hurting her.
“Before Lumen, I didn’t know that you could fast too long, especially as a woman going through menopause,” she contemplates.
Angy thought she was doing the right thing, but had no way of knowing how her body was actually responding to her fasts.
“While fasting can be great for weight loss and metabolism, pushing it too far can backfire, breaking down muscle, slowing metabolism, and leaving you drained,” she cautions.
Now, she tracks her metabolism with Lumen to find the best fasting window for her.
“The beauty of biohacking your health with tools like Lumen is that you get to see the unseen,” she quips. - Functional supplementation
To complement her whole-food-first philosophy, Angy fills nutritional gaps with targeted supplements: bioavailable vitamins, collagen, olive leaf elixir, probiotics, and blood sugar support. - Habit stacking for the win
Angy’s day starts with lemon water, lymphatic drainage, and internal elixirs to awaken her body gently. She holds off on coffee for the first 90 minutes to support her natural cortisol rhythm.
“This journey isn’t about perfection. It’s about stacking daily habits that help me feel my best,” she points out.
Angy adds that it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Her biggest wins have come from starting small and staying consistent. Whether you build new habits slowly or dive in all at once, you control your journey.
Advice to her younger self
“You are stronger than you think,” Angy would tell her younger self. “You don’t need to have everything figured out. Challenges might just be shaping you into the person you’re meant to become.”
Despite enduring multiple cancer diagnoses, Angy found purpose through her challenges. “Had someone told me what I’d go through, I wouldn’t have believed I could survive it. But I did. And I came out stronger.”
What’s next for Angy
In 2025, Angy is channeling her energy into developing an online course designed to help women navigate menopause with confidence. She’s also becoming a vocal advocate for natural health innovations, including waterless wellness and beauty.
A moment of triumph
Angy’s story is not just one of survival, it’s a masterclass in adaptation, discipline, and joy.
From corporate burnout to a simpler life, cancer diagnosis to cancer remission, and muscle loss to metabolic mastery with Lumen, she shows that any woman can feel empowered throughout all life stages with the right mindset, habits, and tools.
If you’re looking to rewrite your story after 50, Angy’s journey is proof: You already have the strength. You just need the tools — and maybe a little blissipline.
